Abstraction

It fun to explore other styles. I have been playing with abstraction and have found a style that I feel incorporates collage and found objects. This new series still reminds me of my figurative work but allows me more freedom and a sense of playfulness. Hope to post new images soon!

Art to the Power of 10 at the McNay

Steves and I had a great time at the McNay last Friday evening. Sadly I did not win the art raffle but sold my newest painting "Venus" that night. Tonight I have three paintings at the Steelhouse Lofts in Southtown. Other fabulous San Antonio artist will be exhibiting their work in these new contemporary SA lofts.

September Mixed Media Clas at T Street Studios

My Mixed Media class has been a lot of fun, and a learning experience for me as well as my brave and creative students. The first day we made a personal mandala using acrylic paint on a wood panel. We needed more than the two hours to finish this ambitious project but I think we all had a good time and learned something about layering acrylic paint. This week, we applied metallic leaf to our wood panels and cut out imagery to collage and paint. These collaged and painted images were then glued onto the wood panel. I'm looking forward to week number three with this fun group of ladies and one fun man (artist Michael Wayne).
